 Chinese Traditional Dress-Hui Costume

The culture of Hui costume has been born and developed in conjunction with the diverse community of Hui. The Hui people usually refer to dress as “clothing” and “wearing”.

From the time when the ancestors of the Hui appeared in China with their neat and gorgeous clothes, unique headgear, and exotic images reflecting the degree of civilization of the Arab nation, to the time when they “followed the customs of their homeland” and became similar to the neighboring ethnic groups where they lived, mainly to the Han Chinese, they showed great adaptability, arbitrariness and localization.

The Hui people still maintain and preserve some of the dress habits with Islamic and ethnic characteristics, and have formed and developed into the present-day Hui dress on the basis of the influence of Han Chinese and other fraternal peoples’ dresses.
